Koryn Hawthorne's Debut Album "Unstoppable" Review

Hearing just the first few bluesy bars of the Jimi Hendrix-like fuzz guitar that open Koryn Hawthorne’s “Warriors,” the opening track on her full-length solo album, Unstoppable, you know you are in for a sonic adventure.

Hawthorne combines the relentless vocal energy of Lady Gaga and the power praise of Cheryl Fortune with the out-of-the-box innovation of Royce Lovett.

Producer Warryn Campbell, no stranger to pop-infused gospel, helps facilitate this mélange of sound, while the lyrics remain grounded in praise, worship, and inspiration.

Those who watched Hawthorne rise on TV’s The Voice won’t be surprised at her versatility. Her variety of influences, from Mary Mary to Mary J. Blige, are at work here, especially on the deep groove “Bless Up” and “Stay Away,” and the shoulder-shaking “Reasons,” which features a rap interlude by J. Monty. The album also includes a remix of Hawthorne’s first single, “Won’t He Do It,” recorded initially for the OWN Network series, Greenleaf.

The album’s highlights are the worship ballads “You Still Love Me” and “Speak the Name” because they give Hawthorne ample space to emote.  Christian singer Natalie Grant is as a guest soloist on “Speak the Name,” a new version of the song from Hawthorne’s self-titled EP.

Just as “Warriors” opens Unstoppable with raised fists of victory over evil, it puts the final nail in the enemy’s coffin with the similarly declarative “Down Goes Rome.”

On Unstoppable, Koryn Hawthorne declares boldly and loudly that although her dance is different, “I’m all about Him.”

10 Tracks feature #1 hit single “Won’t He Do It,” “Warriors,” “Unstoppable,” “Speak the Name” (feat. Natalie Grant), “Reasons” (feat. J. Monty), and more

J. Monty), available instantly upon pre-order.

Koryn Hawthorne’s powerful voice and dynamic message on “Won’t He Do It” remains a captivating anthem among listeners – as the hit single continues to set the charts ablaze with four #1’s on the latest Gospel charts this week – topping Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs Chart, Billboard’s Gospel Airplay Chart, the MediaBase Gospel Chart, and Billboard’s Gospel Digital Song Sales Chart.  “Won’t He Do It” has been a #1 hit for 13 weeks overall on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs Chart thus far, as well as a #1 hit for 7 weeks overall on both the Billboard Gospel Airplay Chart and Gospel Digital Song Sales Chart thus far.

Nominated for two Stellar Awards earlier this year, Hawthorne’s talents keep on rising, as the 20-year-old ebullient young star rolls out her full-length debut, which also includes the title track “Unstoppable,” “Down Goes Rome,” “Speak the Name” (feat. Natalie Grant), and more.  Collaborating with the versatile musical talents of GRAMMY®-winning and nominated producers Warryn Campbell, Bernie Herms, Makeba Riddick-Woods, Johnta Austin, among others, Unstoppable is infused with Hawthorne’s sumptuous vocals and a contemporary sonic mix, reflecting her strong purpose, to inspire others and have faith, be fearless to persevere through any obstacles.  Catch Koryn Hawthorne performing her album live this summer, hitting the stage on the Summer Lights Tour in July.

Nashville, Tenn. (May 23, 2018) — GRAMMY® nominee, Dove Award winner, and Capitol recording artist, Danny Gokey is gearing up for his first-ever headline tour with this fall’s Hope Encounter. Also featuring GRAMMY® nominee Tauren Wells and breakout artist Riley Clemmons, the tour will hit 29 markets across the country, including Los Angeles, Atlanta, Seattle, Phoenix, Oklahoma City, and more. Produced by general market powerhouse Outback Concerts, the tour will play mostly theaters and performing arts centers.

“It’s been a dream of mine since American Idol to headline my own major tour,” says Gokey. “That platform opened my eyes to the power of mixing hope with entertainment. Hearing a message of hope at just the right time can truly make an impact in someone’s life. Getting this opportunity is a dream come true! I love touring, being with fans, and seeing first-hand how the music can encourage people in a time in our society where hope (mixed with a little fun) is so desperately needed.”

Hope Encounter tickets pre-sale takes place Tuesday, May 29, with an email push to Gokey’s fan list. Venue pre-sales launch in each market at 10 a.m. (local time) on Wednesday, May 30. National on-sale date is Friday, June 1, at 10 a.m. local time.

“The process of creating the tour has really been awesome,” continues Gokey. “I can’t wait to hit the stage with Tauren and Riley – they are both crazy good and I love their fresh sound.  We’ve also brought in uber-creative director Laurieann Gibson, who has worked with everyone from Michael Jackson to Katy Perry, to design the show and help me take it to another level.”

Gokey continues, “My purpose with this tour is that people walk away entertained, inspired, empowered, and that hope invades every area of their lives.”

Gokey became a favorite of millions of fans as a Top 3 finalist on Season 8 of American Idol. His first album, My Best Days, debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. Since then, the Wisconsin native has celebrated a series of #1 album debuts, including his first award-winning holiday album, Christmas Is Here, as well as singles including the recently Gold-certified “Tell Your Heart to Beat Again” and “Hope In Front of Me.” Gokey’s latest album, Rise, reached #1 on the Billboard Top Christian Album chart and garnered his first Grammy nomination.  Its title track, marked his third, multi-week, multi-chart #1 single.

Tauren Wells, a four-time GRAMMY® nominee, debuted Hills and Valleys — his first full-length solo project — in July 2017, just prior to hitting arenas on the Lionel Richie/Mariah Carey 22-city “All the Hits Tour.” The album’s title track was one of the most streamed Christian songs of 2017, according to Spotify, and currently registers over 50 million total streams. The official music video and lyric video have combined views exceeding 25 million. His single, "Undefeated," also served as the soundtrack for the internet-famous Dude Perfect’s “World Records Edition” episode on YouTube which, along with another Dude Perfect video featuring the No. 1 single "Love Is Action," has garnered more than 100 million views combined. Wells made history earlier this year by landing singles in both the #1 (“All My Hope (ft. Tauren Wells)” by Crowder) and #2 (“When We Pray”) spots simultaneously on national radio charts.

Riley Clemmons is an 18-year-old, Nashville-based singer/songwriter signed to Capitol Christian Music Group. Her debut single, “Broken Prayers,” skyrocketed at radio upon its release in early 2018 and the music video earned over a million views on YouTube in less than two months. The single has now crossed over six million streams, according to Spotify. Most recently, Riley was featured on the song and music video for Social Club Misfit’s radio single “Misfit Anthem” and Tritonal’s “Out My Mind.” Her upcoming full-length debut album releases August 3, 2018.

Long-tenured industry veteran, Dennis Disney, has been elevated to the position of Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer and Ben Pogue has been promoted to Artist Manager. Jordan Greiner has been added to the 20-year old firm as an artist manager, handling day-to-day responsibilities on select clients, while Tina Johanning has joined the team as Executive Assistant to the President and Senior Vice President. The announcements were made by Maximum’s founder and president, Mitchell Solarek.

“Our Maximum Artist clients have seen tremendous growth over the past two years—massive consumption numbers, GRAMMY®, Dove, and Stellar Award nominations and wins; packed houses on big tours; multiple and multi-week number one radio singles; explosive growth in social media fan bases—all necessitating our firm’s expansion,” says Solarek. “I can’t describe how excited I am for our clients and for the future of our firm with the team we have in place.”

Dennis Disney joined Maximum in January 2016 as its first Vice President, overseeing operations and day-to-day responsibilities for several clients. His newly expanded role adds all business and legal affairs, strategy development for the firm and its 13 clients, sponsorship and sponsor relations, book publishing opportunities, and value-added initiatives for the client roster.

Ben Pogue has been a vital team member at Maximum for over four years. His expanded role into artist manager includes overseeing day-to-day duties for GRAMMY® winning songwriter/producer, Bernie Herms and breakout Capitol CMG artist, Riley Clemmons. Additionally, he remains the primary point person in Maximum’s relationships with all major Digital Service Providers and a key liaison with record label partners’ digital teams, helping drive digital revenue growth across all platforms.

Jordan Greiner, joining artist managers Kristi Brazell (Natalie Grant/Curb) and Penny Railey (Danny Gokey/Capitol CMG), brings eight years of artist management experience and network to the firm. Previously, Greiner was a manager at Eaglemont Entertainment where he worked with such artists as High Valley, Jason Gray, Aaron Shust, and Grammy-nominated Lauren Daigle. At Maximum, he will oversee the day-to-day management for four-time GRAMMY® nominee Tauren Wells (Essential/Sony), hip-hop duo Social Club Misfits (Capitol CMG), GRAMMY® and Stellar Award nominee Todd Dulaney (eOne), and The Voice finalist, R&B/Gospel sensation Koryn Hawthorne (RCA Inspiration).

Tina Johanning is a 2017 graduate of Belmont University with a background in public relations, marketing, management, and sales. As Executive Assistant to the President and Senior Vice President, she is involved in the overall administration of the company while also working alongside the artist managers, especially in the area of tour merchandise and logistics.

Grant receives pathology report following her October 10th surgery

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 16, 2017) – Multi-GRAMMY® nominated and award-winning artist Natalie Grant has received positive news from her medical team following thyroid surgery on October 10th.

Grant underwent surgery last week to remove half of her thyroid after two tumors were found in an ultrasound.  The results of the surgery and pathology report revealed papillary thyroid cancer in two nodules in the right lobe of the thyroid.  The pathology report showed that the cancer was fully encapsulated in the nodules and had not traveled any further into the surrounding tissue or neighboring lymph nodes. Her surgeon stated that by removing the right side of the thyroid, they removed all traces of cancer and no further treatment will be necessary.

Dr. James Netterville, Director of Head and Neck Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, performed the surgery. He used laryngeal nerve monitoring during the procedure and was able to use electric stimulation of the vocal chords and nerves that control the upper range of the voice. He was happy to report that everything is functioning properly and there was no long term vocal damage caused by the surgery.  After several weeks of vocal rest and therapy, Grant should have a full recovery.

Natalie Grant states, “My heart is overflowing with gratitude in every way. I’m forever grateful to Dr. Netterville and the entire medical team at Vanderbilt for the world-class care I received. I am humbled by the outpouring of support from around the world, which has strengthened my faith in more ways than I can express. God is so good. He was good before surgery, and He is good after.  His goodness was never dependent on my outcome.  I’m just grateful I’ll have many more years to sing about Him.”

KB, Seth & Nirva, Branan Murphy, D.A. Horton Now Repped as Maximum Artist Clients

Sam Fisher.jpeg

Nashville, TN (August 15, 2016) — Effective today, Sam Fisher, co-founder and principal of Paravel Management, LLC, has joined Maximum Artist Management as Artist Manager. Fisher brings with him a roster of fast-rising artists, including award-winning hip-hop artist KB, urban/pop artist Branan Murphy (Provident/Sony), duo Seth & Nirva (Integrity Music), plus author-speaker D.A. Horton (NavPress). The announcement was made by Maximum Artist founder and president, Mitchell Solarek.

According to Solarek, in addition to mutual and complementary philosophies and goals, it was Fisher’s experience (in management, marketing, and distribution), leadership, ‘make it happen’ attitude, and his extensive network (across touring, promotion, music licensing, and with the ability to connect with top executives across multiple genres in Los Angeles, Nashville, and New York) that really stood out.

“We had been talking internally for a while about how Maximum wants to be investing not only in artist development, but also executive talent development,” says Solarek. “Sam is remarkably skilled and positioned to help grow Maximum into a strong leader in musical areas we are not currently involved. We are thrilled and extremely fortunate to have him on our team.”

Fisher’s executive experience includes multi-year stints with global distributor Redeye Worldwide, indie label Yep Roc Music Group, and the launch of his own event management and promotion company, Lucas Gambit. In 2014, Fisher co-founded Paravel Management, LLC, a music management company based in Nashville with satellite offices in Los Angeles and North Carolina. Under the new deal with Maximum, Fisher will retain key-man status with the roster he currently manages.

States Dennis Disney, Vice President of Maximum Artist Management, “After more than three months of conversations with Sam, getting a real sense of both the manager and the man—and Sam getting to know our leadership team and what drives us—we all realized this would be a fantastic partnership.”

“The feeling is mutual,” says Fisher. “This partnership began organically with Mitchell and I working on a project together and it grew from there. I believe, wholeheartedly, that Maximum is the right next step for me, and I believe that collectively our clients will benefit greatly from this partnership.”

Immediately, Fisher brings to Maximum a client roster of signed artists and an author. Over the past couple of years, KB (Reach Records) has become a force in faith-based hip-hop with over 150 thousand albums sold and over 33 million streams to date. His “Tempo” tour begins September 7 with special guests Blanca, Maximum Artist client Tauren Wells, and Joseph Solomon. Integrity Music’s Seth & Nirva are moving up radio charts with their debut single “Brother (Open Up Our Eyes)” featuring Gabe Real (from their debut album Never Alone), while Branan Murphy is preparing to release his debut single for Provident/Sony. In March of this year, author/speaker D.A. Horton released his third book (but first for NavPress), Bound to Be Free.
