Five-time GRAMMY® nominee Tauren Wells wears many hats. Whether husband, father, performer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist or worship academy founder, the deep desire to draw people closer to their identity in Christ is evident in all that he pursues. As former frontman of GRAMMY® Award-nominated band Royal Tailor, Tauren’s focus on speaking the love of God to others is unmistakable on his first full-length solo project, Hills and Valleys, which debuted in the Summer of 2017. It has since been nominated for the GRAMMY® for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album and earned him the Dove Award for Pop Contemporary Album in 2018. That same year, he also claimed Dove Awards for Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, and Rap/Hip Hip Recorded Song (for his collaboration with Social Club Misfits on their song “War Cry”).
Wells’ first solo single, “Undefeated,” is featured as the soundtrack for an episode of internet-famous “Dude Perfect” and also licensed by Fox Sports for regional NBA coverage. Since its release, the Hills and Valleys album has garnered over 275 million streams collectively, and his radio audience has surpassed 1.1 billion impressions. Now with over 100-million streams, the GRAMMY®-nominated hit single “Hills and Valleys” was one of the most streamed Christian songs of 2017 according to Spotify, and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry of America. This piano and cello-driven title-track quickly climbed the radio and sales charts, jumping to the Top 10 on the Christian Airplay radio chart for multiple weeks. Other top hits include “When We Pray” (which reached Top 5 on multiple charts) and “Known,” which has garnered nearly 25 million streams and over 7 million views of the music video while hitting #1 on the Billboard Audience,
AC Monitored, AC Indicator, and CHR radio charts.
As he prepared to release Hills and Valleys in 2017, Tauren was chosen as the opening act for Lionel Richie's “All The Hits Tour” with special guest Mariah Carey. The following year, Wells joined Chris Tomlin's “Worship Night in America” throughout Spring 2018, opened for Danny Gokey’s “Hope Encounter” in Fall 2018, and partnered with Chris Tomlin again in Spring 2019 for the “Holy Roar” tour. Tauren doesn’t make music to gain notoriety, however – “I feel called to call greatness out of people,” Wells shares. He will be taking that call on the road this Fall as he embarks on his first headlining tour, with stops in 18 states and 29 cities. Even as his current single “God’s Not Done With You” climbs the charts, Tauren is in the studio working on his next project, which is scheduled to release early in 2020. You can expect to hear more of the profound lyrics and powerful vocal stylings for which he has come to be known as he trusts God with the process of creating music that will help people “feel like they can do something great."
